And with Djokovic at his peak, it is unlikely either one will catch him now. Many will say, with justification, that Djokovic is beating up on lesser versions of Federer and Nadal, and that is true. But, of course, it is also true that in the early years, they beat up on a lesser version of Djokovic.

It’s nice to see them still hanging on, still enjoying the tour, still being tough out there, making it difficult for the youngsters to break through,” Federer said. “There is a bit of that clash right now — the young ones trying to push out, especially, the 35-plus guys.
