While academy set ups shouldn't be judged on something like the Youth UCL, it's quite alarming how poorly the Bayern U-19s have performed in recent years. In the three years that the competition has been around, Bayern have not been able to advance past the group stages even once. It's concerning that the players look overmatched in these games, considering that these are some of the players we hope will lead the next generation of Bayern teams to glory. A bigger academy is something the club has needed for a long time. While their set up wasn't bad, it didn't match up

Bayern Munich will make changes to their youth academy, in the hope that new Thomas Müllers and Philipp Lahms will be found. An old face will take a new job in the coming summer.  The 62-year-old Bayern legend will be sporting director of the club's new youth academy in the summer. Gerland, currently one of Ancelotti's assistant coaches, has worked in the club's youth set-up in the past and played a leading role in bringing the likes of Philipp Lahm, Thomas Müller, Holger Badstuber and Bastian Schweinsteiger to Bayern's first team.

Bayern Munich’s new €70 million youth academy will open on the outskirts of the city this summer, following two years of construction work. Jurgen Muth, director of the club’s Allianz Arena, told delegates at the ESSMA conference at Parc OL in Lyon last week, that the state-of-the-art academy will open its doors as scheduled. The new facility will boast eight football pitches, including one with a 2,500-seat stand, a youth academy, offices and a multi-purpose sports hall. Muth said: We need another nine months and our new training centre will open in the summer. Youth development is an importa

However, it becomes very easy to forget, especially if you desire so, just how much a part the youth academy of FC Bayern München has played in helping the club become a super-power. In the current team, club captain and vice captain – Lahm and Schweinsteiger, along with Badstuber, Kroos, Müller, Alaba, Contento are all products of the academy. Apart from Contento, virtually every player has played a significant part in the re-emergence of Bayern. Just to provide an effective contrast to illustrate the point: In the 2013 UEFA Champions League final, the two teams which squared up against each

MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich is looking to the future after presenting its new 70-million euro ($78 million) youth and women's academy on Wednesday. Bayern president Uli Hoeness says, "It's been our dream for many years to have our own academy, like many big clubs around the world, a Bayern Munich campus. Now it's almost ready."

The program will place Bayern Youth Academy coaches in the US on a regular basis and establish “Player Identification Programs” to identify players to go on trial in Germany every summer. Wolfgang Dremmler, Head of FC Bayern Munich Youth Academy, explained: “The soccer education of a world champion player starts at a very young age, which is why it is important to provide kids with exceptional training early in their development, as we have done at FC Bayern Munich’s Youth Academy for decades.”
